incheon nt

Further to our communication of 20 December 2022, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) would like to remind stakeholders that online registration for WADA’s 2023 Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Symposium closes on Friday 19 May.

This is WADA’s fifth TUE Symposium, which will graciously be co-hosted by the Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA) and will run from 31 May to 2 June 2023 in Incheon, South Korea. The Symposium will convene TUE Committee members, sport and other physicians and managers who work on TUEs from National Anti-Doping Organizations, International Federations and Major Event Organizations from around the globe, to discuss medical conditions and the TUE process.

The primary objective of the TUE Symposium is to harmonize the approach to TUEs, which ensures that athletes with legitimate medical conditions may participate in sport despite their need for a medication or treatment that may otherwise be prohibited in sport under the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods. The Symposium will include interactive discussions on medical cases, medico-legal issues and retroactive TUEs. Participants will also discuss challenges regarding global harmonization of practices, with the goal of ensuring that fairness is maintained and that athletes are afforded similar opportunities considering their sport, geographical location or specific medical issues. To maximize stakeholder interaction, booths will be set up so that participants can chat with WADA TUE Expert Advisory Group members, WADA medical staff and other specialists about specific medical conditions and the TUE process.

Registration

Should you wish to register for the TUE Symposium, we invite you to do so on the Symposium website by 19 May 2023. The website contains all relevant information regarding the event, including the program.
