WADA issues Call for Expressions of Interest to host WADA’s Africa Regional Office

office

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to issue a Call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to host WADA’s Africa Regional Office.

WADA was established in 1999 as an international independent agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport. WADA’s Headquarters are in Montreal, Canada.

In addition to WADA’s Headquarters in Montreal, the Agency also has four regional offices located in Cape Town, Lausanne, Montevideo and Tokyo, which play key stakeholder engagement roles in their respective regions of the world.

Since 2003, the government of South Africa has been the host of WADA’s Africa Regional Office in Cape Town. Following a recent review of the current hosting arrangement, it has been determined that before renewing said agreement with South Africa, the opportunity should be extended to the entire continent.

Therefore, WADA is asking African cities and countries interested in submitting an EOI to:

  • Consult the linked document, which outlines WADA’s criteria for selecting a host city/country and the timelines for the selection process; and
  • Submit an EOI, in English and/or French, by 17:00 EDT on Friday, 2 June 2023.

It is expected that WADA’s Executive Committee will consider the options and decide on the successful host city/country at their meeting on 22 September 2023.

For any questions or comments, please contact WADA’s Office of the General Director at DGOffice@wada-ama.org.
