WADA creates ADAMS Testing Working Group

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce creation of WADA’s Anti-Doping Administration & Management System (ADAMS) Testing Working Group (ATWG). The new Working Group will provide expert advice and recommendations to WADA’s Testing Department and to the Agency’s Information Technology (IT), Data and Digital Development Department on the use of ADAMS and its ecosystems as it relates to the planning, conducting, monitoring and reporting of testing by Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs).
The ATWG consists of seven anti-doping experts who are regular users of the ADAMS ecosystems and who have operational experience in the testing activities of an International Federation, a National or a Regional Anti-Doping Organization. The ATWG will carry out its mandate for an initial two-year period (i.e., until the end of 2024) and its work will be evaluated in mid-2024 to determine whether it shall continue and if so, in what format. The Terms of Reference of the ATWG can be found here.
The ATWG’s first meeting was held on 5-6 December 2022 in Lausanne, Switzerland and the main discussions included WADA’s IT roadmap for 2023, including the new Athlete Biological Passport module and the upcoming long-term storage functionality. Each member of the ATWG also presented on their use of ADAMS, its ecosystems and other systems that they may use in parallel to facilitate their testing operations. The ATWG identified a number of challenges and proposed solutions to be considered for current and future functionalities of these systems.
The ATWG members will also assist WADA in testing new ADAMS modules in 2023 and will help shape WADA’s IT priorities for 2024.
