WADA appoints Ross Wenzel as new General Counsel

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce that, effective 4 January 2022, Ross Wenzel joined WADA as the Agency’s new General Counsel.
Until end-2021, Ross was a partner at the Swiss law firm Kellerhals Carrard, where he acted as WADA's external legal counsel for over a decade. During his time with the law firm (2010-2021), he handled hundreds of doping-related cases before the Court of Arbitration for Sport for WADA and other Anti-Doping Organizations, including International Federations and National Anti-Doping Organizations.
In this new role as General Counsel and as part of the Office of the Director General, Ross is a member of WADA's Leadership Team. Based out of the Agency’s European office in Lausanne, Switzerland, he will have overarching responsibility for WADA’s Legal Affairs, including direct oversight of its litigation, in close cooperation with the Legal Affairs Director, Julien Sieveking.
WADA Director General Olivier Niggli said: “I am very pleased that Ross Wenzel has joined WADA as General Counsel. Ross is widely recognized as one of the world's leading anti-doping lawyers. For over ten years, he has provided exceptional service and advice to WADA as external legal counsel. He already works very effectively with WADA Leadership and the Legal Affairs team and we are thrilled now to have him on the inside.”
Ross obtained a Congratulatory First in Modern Languages at Oxford University (England) before studying law at BPP Law School in London, where he graduated with distinction. He also graduated with distinction with the FIFA Master (an International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport). Ross first practiced as a corporate lawyer at Slaughter and May in London (2004-2007); and, prior to his term at Kellerhals Carrard, he worked as in-house counsel with Infront Sports & Media (2008-2010), a leading international sports marketing agency based in Switzerland.
