tue

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to provide an update on its 2023 Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) Symposium. This edition, graciously co-hosted by the Korea Anti-Doping Agency (KADA), will run from the evening of 31 May through 2 June 2023 in Incheon, South Korea.

About the Symposium

The Symposium is geared towards TUE and sport physicians who work on TUEs from National Anti-Doping Organizations, International Federations and Major Event Organizations from around the globe. The Symposium will include interactive discussions on challenging medical cases, medico-legal issues and retroactive TUEs. Participants will also discuss issues regarding global harmonization of practices, with the goal of ensuring that fairness is maintained and that athletes are afforded similar opportunities considering their sport, geographical location or specific medical issues.

Highlighted Sessions

  • Ask the Experts (2 June, from 13:30 to 15:00): Numerous booths will be set up to give participants the opportunity to interact with world renowned specialists and TUE experts in growth hormone deficiency, hypogonadism, asthma, infertility and more (see program for full list).
  • Quick Dives: Pearls from Around the World (2 June, from 12 to 12:30): This session will feature interesting cases from around the world. There are still spots available for presenters. Those interested should contact Ms. Yoko Dozono at yoko.dozono@wada-ama.org.
  • Practical Tips and Risk Management Exercises on Supplements: While not related to TUEs, this subject has always been a highly appreciated session in our Symposia.

KADA-hosted Events

Participants are cordially invited by KADA, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea and Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, to attend the Gala Dinner on 1 June at Gyeongwonjae Ambassador Incheon. Assistance will be provided by KADA and its sponsors to other events in and around Incheon.

Note that KADA will be holding its annual Anti-Doping Seminar in Asia on 31 May, with the opening event of the TUE Symposium to follow in the evening, providing greater opportunity for medical officials from the Asia region to participate in both symposia.

Accreditation

Please note that for the first time, this event will be eligible for CME accreditation which has been organized through the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®).
